Vintage Terracotta Slipware Fish Dish, Hand-Painted Coastal Motif, Stamped Base

Oh this one feels like a little story from the sea! 

A beautiful vintage terracotta slipware dish, decorated with the sweetest hand-painted fish swimming in a gentle line, bordered by soft, wavy slip and scattered with warm ochre stars. The colours are so rich and earthy, deep chocolate brown, creamy white, soft blues and those glowing amber tones, it has that unmistakable warmth and texture that only slipware carries.

There’s something so charming about the design, almost folk-like in its simplicity. The fish feel playful and rhythmic, like they’re moving together through water, and the wavy lines give it that lovely sense of flow, it’s one of those pieces that draws you in the longer you look at it.

Turn it over and there’s a beautiful little detail, a stamped seal featuring two tiny fish. I haven’t been able to identify the potter, but this mark feels so thoughtful and intentional, like a quiet signature left behind. It makes the piece feel all the more special.
