Vintage Unique Studio Pottery Bird Jug

A characterful hand-thrown studio pottery jug, decorated with painterly bird motifs in rich cobalt, soft pink, earthy ochres, and touches of yellow. The rounded belly and expressive brushwork give it a lively, almost folk-art quality, where form and decoration merge into something playful and full of personality.

Signed on the base with a potter’s mark we’ve yet to identify, this is clearly the work of a skilled maker, with its confident hand and beautifully balanced form. Both decorative and functional, it pours well but also stands on its own as a piece of sculptural pottery to be enjoyed every day.
