Vintage Welsh 1990s Studio Pottery Plate by Oldrich Asenbryl – Sarn Pottery, Sarn Meyllteyrn, Wales

A beautiful vintage hand-thrown and hand-painted Welsh studio pottery plate by renowned potter Oldrich Asenbryl, produced at Sarn Pottery in Sarn Meyllteyrn, near Pwllheli, Gwynedd, during the 1990s.

Decorated with a charming apple motif in rich red and soft green against a beautifully speckled glaze, this piece perfectly captures Oldrich Asenbryl’s distinctive colourful, pop art inspired style. The softly glazed surface, hand-painted details and subtle variations make each piece entirely unique.

Born in Czechoslovakia, Oldrich Asenbryl trained at the prestigious Bechyně College of Ceramics before settling in North Wales in the early 1970s. He founded Sarn Pottery in 1973, where he became celebrated for his colourful, expressive studio ceramics that blended Central European influences with the Welsh landscape. His work has become increasingly sought after by collectors of British and Welsh studio pottery.
