Vintage Welsh Studio Pottery Butter Dish by Abaty Pottery

A beautifully made vintage studio pottery butter dish by Abaty Pottery, hand-thrown in Wales. The dome lid is decorated with soft spiral brushwork in warm brown slip, over a creamy, lightly speckled glaze, simple, tactile, and quietly charming.

It’s the kind of piece that lives on the table, for slow breakfasts, salty butter, and just-baked bread. There’s a small vent hole on top, and the base is clearly stamped: Abaty Handthrown Stoneware Wales.

Grounded, functional, and full of charm, just as a good butter dish should be.
