A wonderfully nostalgic piece of Welsh studio pottery, this hand-crafted dog glasses holder was made by Brynsiencyn Pottery on Anglesey, Wales, most likely during the 1960s or 70s. The pottery itself operated until the mid-1980s, and pieces like this capture a playful, homely charm that feels instantly familiar.

Shaped as a sleepy hound’s head, it’s designed to hold a pair of glasses neatly across its nose, both practical and endearing. The glaze has developed fine age-related crazing, adding character and authenticity to its decades of life.

For me, this design holds a special place in my heart. My own Taid (grandfather) had a near-identical one, and I now use it every day for my own glasses. It’s an object that speaks deeply of hiraeth, of Welsh homes filled with simple, useful things that also carry love, memory, and comfort.

Perfect as a quirky functional piece or simply as a nostalgic decorative treasure, this dog glasses holder is sure to bring a smile.
