Vintage Welsh Studio Pottery Wall Plate, Porthmadog Pottery, Signed J. Jones

A rare and incredibly beautiful piece of Welsh studio pottery, this large decorative wall plate was handcrafted at Porthmadog Pottery in North Wales and is signed by the artist J. Jones. Its soft, almost ethereal pastel green glaze gives the piece a calming, organic presence, like a misty hillside or the surface of a quiet stream.

Look closely and you’ll see delicate painterly motifs worked into the design, most notably, elegant strands of wheat sweeping through the centre. The subtle movement in the glaze, paired with the plate’s hand-thrown ridges and painterly border, make it a beautifully tactile and expressive piece.

Stamped with the Porthmadog Cymru mark and numbered 66, this is an exceptional example of regional studio work from a much-loved Welsh pottery.
