A beautifully weathered wooden sign that’s been shaped into a leaf form, bearing the Welsh words Hafod Awelon, which translates as “Summer dwelling of the breezes.” In Welsh tradition, a hafod was a seasonal home or upland pasture retreat, while awelon evokes the soft breath of wind drifting through open hills. Together, the name suggests a place of calm, simplicity, and connection to the landscape.
Handmade from solid wood and softened with a patina of mossy greens and greys, the sign carries the marks of age and use that only add to its charm. The bold, nailed-on cast iron lettering feels both rustic and timeless, standing out against the worn grain.
A rare piece of Welsh heritage, this sign is as much an object of story as of style. Perfect as wall décor in a cottage hallway, by a garden gate, or simply leaned casually on a shelf, it brings a touch of authenticity and poetry to any home.
Condition: timeworn with weathering, scratches, and surface marks consistent with outdoor use. All of which add to its character.
